So, I'm using Napster again. →
And I have to say, it’s strange. Every time I type that url into the address bar I have to stop and think, did I mean netflix? No? Okay… I pay $5 a month, get 5 mp3s, after 2 weeks, I’ve yet to search for a track that they didn’t have, but the best part is the streaming. Included in the price, I get to listen to every single album they have streaming over my computer....

"Variant" and the return of the short story? →
Variant is a short story by screenwriter John August (Go, Big Fish) it’s available as both a file for your Kindle (which also works on your iPhone and iPod touch) as well a downloadable PDF. I read the free sample pages, was interested enough to pay the 99 cents for the rest of the story, and was not disappointed. The story was interesting, exciting, original and thought provoking but...

“It’s like this, we get on the bus. We do it right now. No thinking. We’re going to start to get real hungry by the time it gets dark, so we’ll go to sleep. When we wake up we will be in Chicago where we can start over. None of this ever happened. We will be able to get something to eat at Seths house.” I said. Then I told her a joke and she didn’t laugh.

deconstruct – a stereoscopic experiment (via Vimeo) This is a fantastic stereoscopic video, meaning the kind that looks 3D when you use the red and cyan glasses.  If you don’t have a pair of 3D glasses this site says they will send you some for free if you send them an envelope and some postage. I’m a big sucker for 3D, and I found this in a really interesting 3D group on vimeo.

Twitter agent.
Girlfriend: That's what people need. They need someone that just walks around with them all day and every once in a while you will say something funny and they stop and say "That was funny. Tweet that."
Matt: Someone that takes what's funny about you and helps you turn it into a funny twitter stream.
Girlfriend: Like a twitter agent.
I'd like to announce that I am now offering this service, if anyone would like to hire me. I cost very little and my 16 twitter followers can vouch for my excellent tweets.

Quick! Go Go Go! I was in bed, upset that I had to go in to work today when it is normally my day off, when I had an idea about how to mask things out of a shot using a transparent .png image and iMovies new cutaway feature. I shot this from my driveway siting on a ladder and then ran inside to mask out the ladder and record the music. As I type this it’s just finishing uploading in time...

I just, at random, discovered this video on Vimeo by someone who has ordered flipbooks from my flipbook company the other day. It’s strange to run into people who you don’t know twice on the web. It’s a nice video. The flipbook they created with us was awesome too. I wish I had the ability to do motion graphics. TheWheels (via The Milk Bar)

yesterday's bike ride
zacbenjamin: jadesparade: riding home, it had just rained. i saw the reflection of blue sky on the wet ground and i couldn’t help but smile. thats my favorite reflection. I like to close one eye, put the reflection of a telephone pole or lamp post in the puddle, and then alternate which eye is closed to make the pole disappear and reappear.

Tumblr vs Wordpress
I woke up in the middle of a dream last night. I’d been dreaming about the embed code that sites like YouTube and Vimeo give you to paste into your site to embed their videos. I was frustrated that I couldn’t figure out how to make that embed video show up reliably in my rss feed on my Wordpress blog. This is a problem I’m really having with Wordpress at the moment and it had...

I’m hoping, against the odds, that I will manage to get away with having no difficult customers during that time. 1 hour down. So far so good.

Long Photos
For the last few weeks I’ve been posting these short videos with some stories I’ve written to go with them on my main blog at www.thedaysarelongandshort.com. I’ve decided, for the next little while I’m going to post them here on Tumblr as well. Mostly I’m doing this because I’m really proud of my new site and would love it if a few people from tumblr would check...
