A blog by Matthew Bogart

When I was little I was an assistant in my fathers magic act. We would do a routine in which he would sit me in a chair, put a box over my head, shove the box full of an impossible number of arrows, and then fling open the front of the box to reveal my head had disappeared. The box contained nothing but arrows.

He wrote apart at the beginning of the effect for him to knock on the box ask if I was alright and then I was to shout in a gruff voice “Sallright!.” He told me it was a reference to something, but I’d never seen the original performance that it was drawn from until today.

Merlin Mann posted this today and ass soon as I saw the title I knew exactly what it was.
